This client wanted an existing room converted into a dedicated home cinema space. They requested a star ceiling, which was integrated into their coffered ceiling. We also painted the room and ceiling, installed in-wall front speakers alongside the 130” fixed frame screen.
Component highlights of this installation include:
- Yamaha Aventage RXA2a AV receiver, which has seven channels of power, each rated at 100W into 8 ohms. It has 7.1 channels which allows us to run 5.1.2 with two ceiling speakers delivering height signals. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding are both onboard.
- The Epson TW9400 projector has 4K/UHD1/3LCD technology for amazing colour brightness, a wide colour gamut for professional colour accuracy and an exceptional 4K visual experience.
Custom cabinetry to house all AV components, including the AV receiver and Foxtel box.

Custom starlight ceiling adds atmosphere

Our starlight ceiling installations use fibre optic filaments to give a room real atmosphere, and the effect of the night sky above. It creates a variety of star constellations and inspiring visual effects on your ceiling – and it can all be controlled via your home automation setup. Starlight ceilings are not just for home theatre rooms, you can also install them in other places – including games rooms, reception halls and even kids bedrooms.
Installing the step-up with integrated LED lighting
For this installation we also supplied LED edge lighting to highlight the raised platform or step-up for safety, visibility and that real cinema look.

Manhattan’s New Yorker Pro series cinema seating
For this project we installed Manhattan’s New Yorker Pro series in a two row configuration for the ultimate in ergonomic home theatre comfort. This is an Aussie brand who creates high quality cinema seating with multiple features like a choice of leathers, stitching, and cup holder colours. The Pro series’ outstanding feature is the motorised recliner mechanism with an ultra quiet ‘Stealth’ motor, for silent adjustment, as well as a handmade solid wood frame for rock solid stability and durability.

Client Review
We first had Universal hang a couple of TVs in our apartment a few years ago where we got great service. So when we bought our new place a few months ago we gave Andy a call to hang another couple of TV’s. Andy and Mick came out a few days later and did a nice job again. Whilst they were here we discussed some thought s about putting in a theatre room into a space that was under utilized. The room was single level tiled floor 7×3.5 with plenty of windows. That discussion lead to a full on installation with a step up built, carpet laid, custom cabinetry, 7 beautiful leather seats, full curtains and a tremendous picture and sound system that has transformed our house and that room to an awesome space. The quality of the installation is excellent and communication through the process perfect to keep us updated and explain the system. Andy and Mick (Mick the master electrician) are great people, professional work and kept our place nice and tidy each day, Sam in the office well organised, pleasant to deal with and kept us up to date and Andy’s team of contractors also great to work with. Zac the cabinet legend built us a fantastic cabinet, James “the blind guy” and his family did a wonderful job of our drapes, the carpet team efficient and friendly people. Everyone we dealt with were awesome. We are so happy we chose Universal Home Theatre Sydney and as you can tell definitely recommend them.
