This project involved running all cabling in conjute external on walls and ceilings in for the speakers and projector installation. This area will be great to relax back on a summers at night under the stars with a glass of wine and watch a movie.

The ultimate outdoor cinema experience
Who doesn’t love to kick back, relax, and unwind with a movie at the end of a long day? It’s one of the great pleasures in life, especially when paired with your favourite snacks, a glass of wine, and the company of your nearest and dearest.
Recently, we had the opportunity to develop and execute the ultimate outdoor cinema experience for a student accommodation campus in Brisbane. The finished result was simply spectacular, and we know the extremely busy, stressed-out students will appreciate a space that’s all about chilling out with friends.
Creating the cinema outdoors was a perfect idea for the warm, sunny Brisbane climate, but we still had to take weather conditions into consideration.
We’d love to share a little more information about this incredible project with you. It was a great opportunity to take the home theatre experience to a whole new level with top-quality audio-visual equipment and innovative wiring techniques.
What the client needed
Before we start any project, we consult with the client to ensure we have a solid understanding of their needs, desires, and limitations. From there, our team can devise a fully personalised plan that delivers on look and functionality – all within the client’s budget.
The student accommodation provider wanted to give their residents somewhere to relax and socialise. After all, attending lectures and tutorials all day, studying for exams, and writing essays can be exhausting.
They decided that an outdoor cinema was the perfect solution – and we couldn’t agree more. The outdoor space needed to be comfortable, attractive, functional, and weatherproof.
Once we had all the information we needed, we were in business.
Transforming the outdoor space
We used a range of top-quality tech to transform the outdoor space into a movie-watching paradise. We ran all cabling along the external walls and the ceiling.
The fit-out included the following components:
- Panasonic PT-MZ570 laser projector
- Custom plastic fabricated box with cooling fans to the house projector
- Yamaha RXA1080 amplifier
- BluStream Hex100 Balun kit
- Jamo 6” wall-mounted weatherproof speakers
- Google Chromecast
- RTI XP6 processor
- RTI KX3 wall controller
The laser projector was positioned so that the image appeared directly on a blank wall. Because of this, there was no need to install a separate fixed screen.
The wall-mounted speakers were strategically positioned to ensure audio clarity throughout the outdoor space. No matter where the students sit, they won’t miss a single line of the movie.
We installed and setup Google Chromecast, too, making it quick and easy to select and play the movie or TV show.
